The company Sugar Shoes was founded in 1998, in the city of Picada Café, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Sugar Shoes began its activities with the production of vulcanized footwear in a rented building, where previously operated an aviary.

After 2 years of activities, the company built its first unit, and also started activities in its new unit, in the city of Senador Pompeu, in the state of Ceará. Currently the group employs approximately two thousand people directly, producing about 15 thousand pairs of shoes a day, contributing to the income and development of the communities and the market where it operates.

The Sugar Shoes group also has a "co-sister partner" which acts in the line of flip-flops. Founded in 2010 by three young partners, Neorubber is located in Capela de Santana, in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre. Initially Neorubber produced rubber plates for the soles of women’s shoes, but in 2011 the company migrated to the manufacture of flip-flops. Just like her older sister, the company also opened a branch in Ceará, in the city of Solonópole. There are 300 employees in the unit of Rio Grande do Sul state and 180 in the state of Ceará. Together, the units produce approximately 20,000 pairs of shoes a day.
